Muscat: In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Muscat Grand Mall (MGM) announced the opening of the Ramadan Souq, bringing together several SMEs and home businesses. The event will also be accompanied by a wide variety of family entertainment.
The first ever Ramadan Souq at MGM, which will run until Eid Al Fitr, will open its doors for customers every day from 9pm to midnight. It will comprise a multitude of brands specialising in anything from confectionary, dates, and honey to natural body-care products. Additionally, the souq will include a special tent where visitors will be served coffee with dates and fresh Jalab juice. It will also consist of a special area for kids’ activities, such as painting and balloon modelling. Al Shabab FM will also be broadcasting live from inside the souq.
Commenting on the launch of the souq, Hassan Jaboub, the CEO of Muscat Grand Mall said, “The main aim of the Ramadan Souq, which has been designed as a group of traditional Omani tents, is to provide families with an outing to enjoy shopping at special prices. And at the same time, it allows them to enjoy free entertainment activities. Better yet, the event is an excellent opportunity for SMEs to introduce themselves and showcase their products to the mall’s visitors; which is in line with our social objectives here at MGM.”
Right from its opening day, on the first day of Ramadan, the souq has seen huge attendance from mall visitors; all of whom enjoyed the delicious taste of the Omani Halwa and coffee while shopping at the various stores. The organisers of the event expect the number to increase over the course of the second week of Ramadan, as many families who prefer spending the first week at their hometowns will be back in Muscat.
