Omani footballer Al Habsi prays for people of Oman ahead of storm Mekunu

Muscat: Legendary Omani footballer Ali Al Habsi has expressed solidarity with the people of Dhofar, as they brace themselves for the tropical storm Mekunu, that is headed their way.
On his official Twitter account, Al Habsi said a prayer asking God to protect Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, their people and the people of Oman. "God, we ask you to protect Dhofar and Al Wusta, their people and the people of Oman from all evil," the tweet read.
The storm, which is around 160km away from the Salalah coast is expected to make landfall tomorrow afternoon and is likely to intensify into a Grade 2 cyclone.
Gale force winds of up to 180kph as well as thunderstorms, heavy rain and waves upto eight feet high are expected.
