Muscat: Oman's Department of Blood Banks Services has asked citizens and residents in the country to come forward and donate blood.
Blood banks in the country have seen a decline in the number of blood donors, and to counteract this shortfall in availability of blood, which is often required on extremely short notice to treat victims in hospitals, the Sultanate's Central Blood Bank has organised a blood donation drive today.
"Due to the decline in the number of blood donors donating and the increase in the need for blood during this period, we appeal to everyone to take the initiative to donate blood today at the Central Blood Bank (8:00 am to 8:00 pm)," said the DBBS on their official Twitter handle.
The donor drive is run in collaboration with Oman's Ministry of Health. Donors who wish to contribute to Oman's blood reserves can also call +968 91335532 or email [email protected].
More information can also be found on their social media handles across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, under the handle @omanblooddonors.
