Muscat: A research project conducted in Oman has been ranked first at the world level in the Globe Environment Programme.
The Sultanate of Oman was represented by the Ministry of Education in the programme.
The Sultanate’s research which won the first place was on the efficiency of using cane in fertilising soil and its impact on water and the soil where it grows.
The research was conducted by Wijdan Al Nadabi, Arwa Al Jalandani and Razan Al Nadabi, students of the Um Hani Basic Education School for Girls, Governorate of Al Dakhiyah.
The research was conducted under the supervision of teacher Nawar Mohammed Al Rawahi.
Out of the 150 research works from the different participating countries 24 research works have obtained the required grade of (four stars) of which the Sultanate had six.
The winners in this programme will participate in the students annual meeting which will be held later this year in Ireland in the first week of July.
