Muttrah: Muttrah Tourism and Heritage Festival, which will be held at Al Medina Theatre in Al Qurm National Park, will open this Wednesday under the patronage of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council. This was announced on Sunday by Sayyid Ahmed bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Wali of Muttrah, chairman of the Organising Committee of the event, in which he pointed out that the festival has heritage, tourism, entertainment and cultural nature and aims to revive the history of the Wilayat of Muttrah through a diversity of events.
The festival will continue till March 28th.
He added that the opening ceremony of the festival will include an operetta entitled "The Story of Muttrah", which tells about the Wilayat of Muttrah in the past and present, as it enjoys the achievements of the blessed Renaissance established by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
He added that the operetta consists of seven parts with the participation of traditional art teams, a number of the schools in the wilaya and nine of the Arab and foreign communities residing in the Sultanate.
On the cultural events that will be held during the festival days, he said that there are distinguished activities that meet the aspirations and wishes of visitors through a cultural awareness program, lectures and educational seminars.
He added that the Omani Royal Navy vessel Shabab Oman will participate actively throughout the days of the festival where a programme has been put in place since its arrival at Sultan Qaboos Port, in addition to recreational and social activities hosted by Riyam Park in the Wilayat of Muttrah.
