Muscat: The Research Council (TRC) Board on Sunday held its first meeting of the year 2018 under the chair of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, Chairman of The Research Council in the presence of senior officials and representatives of several academic and private institutions.
During the meeting, the TRC Board reviewed a number of reports, recommendations and developments in implementing a number of the decisions and programmes of supporting research and innovation, as well as reviewing what was achieved during the last year and developments of work in these programmes and projects under the approved budgets. The board also viewed the developments of the TRC membership in a number of committees and regional research organisations.
On the other hand, members of the TRC Board reviewed the latest developments in the programme of converting the technical graduation projects to startup companies, which is being implemented by the TRC for the second year in collaboration with a number of partners to provide financial support, incubation and training for student projects to convert these projects into knowledge-based companies, where three student companies are currently being incubated as the outputs of the first version of the program.
TRC Board also discussed the outcome of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) report on its 12th meeting, which was held last year and provided appropriate guidance.
