Sadah: Sadah is one of the most important tourist destinations in the Governorate of Dhofar due to its diverse natural environment between wide beaches, quiet bays, beautiful valleys, high mountains and fresh water springs, as well as biodiversity and archaeological sites.
Sadah is about 135 kilometres east of Salalah. It is bordered to the west by the wilayat of Mirbat and East by the wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands.
Sadah has a mild climate throughout the year, making its beautiful beaches and tranquil bays a tourist destination for visitors from the governorate and outside for recreation due to its views of the Arabian Sea and that of the extension of the Samhan mountain chain along its northern side.
In the Wilayat of Sadah there are remains of ancient historical cities, such as the ancient City of ‘Al Mahalla’, which is about 7 kilometres east of the wilaya centre, and the town of Hadhabram, located in the Niyabat of Hasik where there is an ancient cemetery. In the past Sadah was an important trade station to collect and export of frankincense.
The Mount Natif area of Niyabat of Hasik is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations that attracts many visitors to see water falling from the mountain all year round due to the clear water pools at the top of the mountain which is 4 kilometres away from the Niyabat centre to the east.
The valleys that spread throughout the Wilayat of Sadah and important tourist destinations that contribute to the revitalisation of the tourist activities in the wilaya. These valleys descend from the series of Mount Samhan and pour into the waters of the Arabian Sea. Of these valleys is Wadi Shilion, in addition to Wadi Rikut, which runs West of the Niyabat of Hasik. It is one of the deepest valleys in the town of Sadah, where Ghaidhat Rikut Spring is located and surrounded by palm trees.
Wadi Sinaq, located 10 kilometers east of the Niyabat of Hasik, is characterised by its blue lagoon and palm trees. Wadi Lushu slopping from the foot of Mount Samhan in the area of Sob is one of the beautiful tourist sites in the West of the Wilayat of Sadah.
The huge rock of Sidqan with its strange form is one of the most important features of the valley, in addition to the existence of ancient tombs.
The Qiraf area, located in the Sop west of the Wilayat of Sadah is characterised by permanent water pools.
Of the beautiful tourist sites in the Wilayat of Sadah is Hat coastal park located 5 kilometres east of the city centre. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Wilaya and the best place to visit with family and friends to enjoy.
Economic growth
Marhoon bin Said Al A’meri, Director General of the Directorate General of Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar told Oman News Agency (ONA) “The tourism sector is one of the main sectors of the economic growth of any country and the tourism sector in the Sultanate has witnessed a significant increase in the growth rates of the main indicators that measure progress in this sector. “
He pointed out that the government adopts a new strategy through which to review everything related to attract tourism investments and overcome obstacles and facilitate procedures to increase the contribution of the tourism sector in the national economy.
