Muscat: Oman Air will receive its first Boeing 737 Max this week, making way for the new era in tourism planned by the government.
With Muscat’s new airport opening soon, Oman Air plans to purchase 30 new Boeing 737 Max over the coming years.
The 737 Max is designed to offer flexibility, reliability, and efficiency in the single aisle market. “Every airplane features the new Boeing sky interior, highlighted by modern sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, LED lighting that enhances the sense of spaciousness, and larger pivoting overhead storage bins.
The 737 Max also provide our guests with a quieter on board experience, whilst significantly reducing both fuel use and carbon dioxide emissions. This new model from Boeing flies further than the next generation 737, and also costs less to fly,” the airline announced.
The Boeing 737 Max will have 150 economy and 12 business class seats, and will fly to short haul and medium haul destinations.
The national carrier is investing heavily in a diverse range of configurations and cutting edge entertainment to enhance Oman Air’s travel experiences. “Oman Air is currently engaged in an exciting fleet and network expansion programme, which will see the carrier operate up to 70 aircraft over the next few years,” an official remarked.
In 2017, Oman Air launched new services to Manchester and Nairobi, and increased the frequency on a number of its established routes. “In 2018 also, several new routes will be announced soon,” the official noted.
Oman Air is also planning to offer routed to Istanbul, Morocco and Moscow in 2018.
Its current fleet includes the Dreamliner 787, Airbus 330-300s and 330-200s, Boeing 737-900s, Boeing 737-800s, and Embraer 175s. Some of the existing aircraft will be retired as the new fleet comes into service.
