Muscat: The Accounting BSc Program at the College of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has been certified as an Accredited Programme by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a global leading professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA).
The programme will hold accreditation for a period of 5 years, for graduates from 01/01/2018 to 31/12/2022.
Delegates from the ACCA including Fazeela Gopalani, Head of Education for Middle East visited the College to present the Certificate of Accreditation to the college. Dr. Hamdan al-Jabri, Head of the Department of Accounting at the College said that as a result of this accreditation, the BSc Accounting students of the College will be entitled to seven exemptions from the ACCA program.
“Particularly, they will be exempted from the following ACCA modules: Accountant in Business; Management Accounting; Financial Accounting; Corporate and Business Law; Performance Management; Financial Reporting; and Audit and Assurance”.
During the visit of the ACCA team, additional benefits of the accreditation and future collaborations between the college and the ACCA were discussed.
