Muscat: Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), a global leader in educating and empowering public leaders, will be hosting its second prospective student information session in Oman on January 23.
The open session will be held at the Grand Hyatt Muscat from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and will introduce HKS’s learning opportunities, that range from stimulating courses, distinguished faculty, research centres and scholarship opportunities, such as the Emirates Initiative Fellowship, to its diverse student body. HKS, also known as the John F Kennedy School of Government, has been a part of Harvard University, one of America’s most prestigious education institutions, for over 75 years.
Its two-year master’s and one-year mid-career master’s in public policy and public administration attract current and future public leaders, who are committed to solving the problems of their generation.
Promoting the programmes, Amani El Sehrawey, Emirates Leadership Initiative programme manager at the Harvard Kennedy School, will talk about the application process and scholarships for both Omanis and Arab citizens.
“The master’s programmes at Harvard Kennedy School will inspire and prepare individuals to make a difference in the world by equipping them with the skills they need to improve public policy, pursue powerful ideas, and advance their capacity to lead. It is truly the right place to transform the desire to do good in the world into real, life-changing action,” said El Sehrawey.
She added , “We are extremely interested in increasing the number of Omani candidates who apply to HKS, ones who care deeply about making a substantial contribution, not only to their community and country, but to the world. Omanis are talented and smart—the question for us is how we should get them to apply to HKS. I am very excited that Yarub Al Yarubi, policy adviser at the Think Tank Unit, Diwan of Royal Court, and Luma Al Saleh, deputy director at TRACCS, both HKS alumni, will also be available at the information session to share, first hand, their experiences and personal journeys.”
HKS offers the most comprehensive range of education programmes in public leadership available anywhere in the world, all delivered by noted scholars and prominent professionals who are committed to exceptional teaching and ground-breaking research.
Students from over 90 nations enrol each year, and international students make up over 40 per cent of the student body.
