Muscat: Mechanisms to enhance the contribution of education in enhancing knowledge based economy in the Sultanate were discussed at a high-level meeting.
The Education and Research Committee at the State Council on Tuesday hosted Dr Said bin Hamad Al Ruba’ie, Secretary General of the Education Council and a number of its officials, within the framework of the Committee’s study on the role of education in supporting the knowledge-based economy.
The Committee addressed the role of the knowledge economy in the philosophy of education, indicators of the implementation of the strategies, laws and legislations pertaining to education in the Sultanate on the ground, and the challenges facing the application and proposals to tackle them. Dr Al Rubaie and Education Council officials submitted a presentation on enhancing the role of education in supporting the knowledge-based economy in light of the Council’s prerogatives.
The presentation dealt with the decisions and objectives of the National Education Strategy 2040. It also touched on the decisions of the Education Council and its directives on knowledge-based economy, as well as the future directions of education supporting the knowledge economy, which includes supporting the efforts and initiatives of various stakeholders to enhance the role of education in the knowledge economy.
