Muscat: Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has decided to officially change the name of the Bidbid-Sur road and Sohar Industrial Port.
According to an order from the ministry, the Bidbid- Sur road will now be called the "Al Sharqiyah Expressway", and Sohar Industrial Port is now officially "Sohar Port".
The 248-km long Bidbid-Sur road project is a pivotal road linking Muscat to North and South Sharqiyah, passing through Ad Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta governorates, and then on to Dhofar.
"Sohar Industrial Port is the main gateway in the logistics transport that serves all the GCC countries and the rest of the world. Due to economic developments and the commercial turnaround in the port, the Ministry has decided to change the name of Sohar Industrial Port to Sohar Port," MOTC added in statement.
