Muscat: The Muscat Festival will begin on Thursday, January 18, and promises to showcase mesmerising sights, food and entertainment for adults and children alike.
The festival will primarily take place at the Amerat Park, Naseem Gardens, and the Oman Automobile Association.
Also, the Tour of Oman 2018 will begin February 13, 2018, and continue for six days.
The gates will be open from 4pm to 11pm on weekdays, and on weekends the festival will be open from 4pm to 12am.
Tickets for the festival are 200 baisas for adults and 100 baisas for children.
The festival will feature fireworks, open theatre performances, folklore, and bands.
There will also be acrobatic events, educational programmes, contests and recreation programmes for children, cartoon characters, and a large number of food courts for visitors.
Khalid bin Mohammed Bahram, assistant chairman of the Main Committee for Muscat Festival, said, “The festival will be held on January 18 and will last for 24 days, followed by the launch of the Tour of Oman 2018 for six days, starting on February 13.”
Officials pointed out that the Muscat Festival 2018 sites were chosen carefully to accommodate the various events, such as sporting, cultural, and artistic.
Visitors can enjoy new electric and aerobic games for both children and adults during the festival.
The Lujinia Omani band will play at the City Amphitheatre on February 2, 2018, and the Lebanese singer, Myriam Fares, will perform on January 22 at the City Amphitheatre, Al Qurum Natural Park. The “Miami Band” is on stage on February 8, 2018 at the City Amphitheatre.
The concerts will begin at 8pm, although entries will start from 6.30pm onwards. Egyptian singer Tamer Hosny will perform on February 23, 2018, at the City Amphitheatre in Qurum.
The “Walad Al Batinah” play, starring Tariq Al-Ali and Abdul Rahman El Aqel, will be staged on January 25 and 26 at the Qurum City Theatre, Al Qurum Natural Park. The “Chinese Luminous Dinosaur Show” will be on daily at Naseem Park.
There will be an exhibition of the “Register of the Supreme Visits” at the Al Amerat Public Park showcasing the beauty of the calligraphy of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos through a record of the various visits over the 47 years of the blessed Renaissance.
The fourth and final round of the Oman Drifting Championship will also be a part of the Muscat Festival 2018 events. The championship will begin from January 20 at the Oman Automobile Association. The festival will end on February 10, 2018.
