Muscat: After a month long winter holiday, motorists are being reminded to take extra care while driving near Indian schools as thousands of students return to classrooms.
The largest co-educational institution in Oman with over 9,200 students, Indian School Muscat started their classes today, while Indian School Wadi Kabir started their classes from Thursday.
“While some schools opened last week, some opened today, and the rest will open by this week,” Wilson V. George, chairman, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, said.
There are around 19 Indian Schools in which around 46,000 students study.
A school official said on Sunday that the inevitable crowds gathering at school entrances near roadways can be hectic for motorists to navigate safely. “Drivers must slow down and keep a sharp eye out for unexpected stops, he said.
