MUSCAT: At the annual meeting of private higher education institutions, participants discussed the issue of raising the rate of Omanisation in the sector.
During the meeting, a number of topics were discussed between the Ministry of Higher Education and private higher education institutions, including raising the percentage of Omanisation in the academic and administrative bodies, the financial situation and the financial entitlements of these institutions and the most important challenges related to day to day management.
The main indicators and results of the 2017 graduate survey were also discussed in the meeting. There was also a proposal to offer doctoral programmes in universities.
The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations, which are expected to overcome the challenges facing these institutions, thus contributing to raising the level of the educational process and improving the quality of the outputs of private higher education institutions.
In the current year, the number of private higher education institutions reached 20 colleges and eight private universities distributed across the various governorates of the Sultanate. These institutions offer different specialties and programs at the diploma level.
