Oman weather: Muttrah souq traders move out goods

Muscat: Traders at Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab world, are moving out their goods from the shops to safe places as heavy rain and flash floods are predicted in the coming next hours.
“Yesterday itself, the flood water was gushing inside the souq. We were prepared so we didn’t incur much loss. Today also, predictions say that there will be heavy rain. So, we have moved our stuff from the shops to warehouses,” Mohammed Navas Chengala, a trader in the souq, said.
In every rain, shop owners in Muttrah Souq, suffer huge loss.
In 2013, shop owners had reportedly lost goods worth OMR1 million in 15 minutes rain.
