Bucharest: Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs’, Message of Islam Exhibition has reached Bucharest as part of its tours to various countries around the world.
The exhibition began in the capital of the Romanian capital under the auspices of that country’s Religion Minister Victor Opasky, in collaboration with the Department of Interfaith Dialogue in the Faculty of Theology, the University of Bucharest, European and Romanian Pan-Arab Cultural Centre (ERPCC), Festa Italia Foundation, amid great official and popular presence of persons interested in common values.
The exhibition comes within the context of the efforts made by the Sultanate in the dissemination of high human values and deliver a message of peace in the world, amid an atmosphere of regional tensions and spill-over of extremism and terrorism and violence, hence the voice of (the Message of Peace) is a response to all of these inhuman practices that are inconsistent with the teachings of religions and cultures, loving mercy and peace.
The opening ceremony started with a speech of Prof. Dr. Mircea Dumitru, Rector, University of Bucharest, where he said: The message of the divine religions is the message of tolerance and love, and as an academic we should teach students these concepts expressed by the exhibition’s posters on how to co-exist with different religions and cultures.”
Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Ma’amari, the Scientific Adviser at the Office of the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, General Supervisor of the Message of Islam Exhibition delivered a speech in which he thanked the supporting authorities in Romania for their efforts to bring the exhibition to Romania, which highlighted the culture of cooperation for the good and teamwork.
Dr. Dhirar Qutaini, president of ERPCC said in a speech that the event and the activity that meet a lot of things has been prepared by a group of people of different religions together.
The exhibition included 50 posters to show the message of Islam in Romanian language and that displayed for the first time in Romanian language, expressing aspects of public life in the Sultanate and what it has witnessed of modern renaissance and continuous development, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The exhibition also included paintings of Omani art and calligraphy, in addition to some Omani artifacts and features of public life in Oman’s past and present.
A campaign entitled “Do Something for Tolerance” was launched in the opening ceremony to collect the largest possible number of participations in this framework to enhance the dissemination of a culture of coexistence between young men and women in countries of the world.
On the sidelines of the exhibition a number of Omani books on civilizations communication and deepening of mutual understanding of humanitarian values were displayed, in addition to the review of a number of images of Omani books on some sciences like astronomy, marine science, medicine and others, in order to highlight the contributions and efforts of Omanis in the global context of knowledge, culture and science.
