Muscat: Oman is more welcoming than other countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Passport Index’s 2017 rankings reveal.
While ranking the GCC countries by how many passports they accept visa-free, with visa on arrival or with eTA, Oman scored the maximum points.
Bahrain was tied with Oman in the rankings with 70 points each.
Kuwait took second position with 58 points, UAE the third with 54, Qatar the fourth with 44 and Saudi Arabia came last with five points.
Arton Capital's Passport Index is the world’s most popular online interactive tool, which collects, displays and ranks the passports of the world, according to owners.
It is the only real time global ranking of the world’s passports, updated as frequently as new visa waivers and changes are announced.
The Passport Index’s other rankings reveal that anyone with a passport can visit Cambodia, which offers visas or visas on arrival to all.
Travelling to Turkmenistan, on the other hand, will prove to be quite difficult for most. All passport holders need to apply for a visa before making a trip.
Passports of 193 United Nations member countries and six territories (ROC Taiwan, Macao (SAR China), Hong Kong (SAR China), Kosovo, Palestinian Territory and the Vatican) for a total of 199 were considered while preparing the index.
