Muscat: With the logistics sector in Oman growing, the Sultanate is slowly transforming itself into a major industrial and logistics centre for the region and beyond, according to an expert.
“The Sultanate is ideally placed to play a leading role in logistics,” said Jayantha Liyanagamage, CEO and President of Jay’s Club Intl Logistics Organisation (JCiLO).
“Oman’s geographical location, combined with the excellent infrastructure, amounts to bringing together all key ingredients that will contribute to the continued growth of the logistics industry,” Liyanagamage added.
JCiLO is organising the third global logistics symposium in Oman. The symposium will bring members from the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Great Britain, France, China, Australia, Japan and South Africa and from all the regions of the world covering more than 50 countries. The event will take place from March 1-4, 2017 at The Millennium Resort in Mussanah, Oman.
“The event will give an impetus to Oman’s growing logistics sector. The conference will offer an ideal platform to showcase Oman’s expertise in providing a range of services in transportation logistics to the world.
“Members of the JCiLO are very interested in the geographical location of Oman when it comes to trans-shipments to the rest of the world. We can cut down the transit time easily by four to five days, particularly in case of perishable cargo,” Jayantha Liyanagamage said.
The symposium brings together the cream of the world’s supply chain community, representing key decision makers who shape the sector’s future.
Logistics experts have been invited to discuss various issues affecting the industry and will provide an ideal platform for supply chain professionals to reflect on how they can tackle operational challenges, meet expectations and drive efficiency in their organisations.
The four-day conference will be a combination of business forums, including one-to-one meeting sessions between participants, along with country sightseeing opportunities and entertainment.
The official host of this grand event is Muscat International Shipping & Logistics LLC in Oman, a part of Al Khaleel group.
