Bandar Seri Begawan: Ways to enhance Arabic language instruction for non-native speakers and proposals to improve the quality of teaching and learning of the Arabic language were discussed at “World Conference on Arabic Language Teaching in Southeast Asia”.
The theme of the event was “Al Arabiyyah: Language and Civilisation of the Islamic Ummah” in which Dr. Noora bint Ali Al Hosaniyah from Ibri College and Dr. Hind bint Abdullah Al Hashimiya from Sohar College took part.
It was jointly organised by the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB and University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan.
Dr. Noora and Dr. Hind highlighted in their research papers the reality of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in higher education and school education institutions in the Sultanate. .
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashil AlMaskari, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam expressed his gratitude for this participation, praising the contributions of the researchers in enriching themes of the conference, and their role in highlighting the Sultanate’s experience in the field of Arabic language instruction for non-native speakers.
He added that these endeavours have paid off well for the establishment of a corner for the Omani publications at the library of UNISSA. The corner contains about more than 500 publications that highlight the contributions of Omani scientists, intellectuals and researchers to the enrichment of the intellectual production.
