56,450 pieces of expired goods destroyed in Oman

Muscat: 128 cases of health norm violations were found by the Municipality in Ibri and it issued 499 warnings after inspecting foodstuff shops in the Wilayat.
An inspection team of the Ibri Municipality inspected several foodstuff establishments, and found several violations.
Abdullah Al Hashmi, the Director of the Ibri Municipality, said, “Commercial establishments, those dealing with sale of foodstuff, were the focus of the drive aimed at ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed.”
The team recorded 128 health violations and issued 499 warnings.
A total of 56,450 pieces of expired goods were destroyed, including 1,631 kilograms of meat, fish and poultry.
Meanwhile, Al Hashmi revealed that 20,173 livestock animals were slaughtered in the Wilayat’s slaughterhouse under the supervision of a veterinarian while 24 were culled out and completely destroyed as these were found unfit for consumption.
