Muscat: More than 50 local and foreign companies are participating in the Arab Industries Exhibition in Muscat, which aims to present industrial investment opportunities in Oman.
The exhibition, running from February 9 to 11 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, features representatives of around 20 countries, including the Gulf nations, said Suleiman Awladthani, who is in charge of the media affairs of the exhibition.
Speaking to ‘Times of Oman’, he said that the exhibition coincides with Oman Industry Day and the event provides a platform for networking between Omani and foreign companies.
According to him, this is the fourth edition of the exhibit but in the previous versions of the event, only Omani products and industries were showcased. This time, it was decided to include foreign companies in order to further benefit local firms and industries, he explained.
Arab gathering
Awladthani said that an Arab gathering will be held at the same venue on the second day of the exhibition, featuring several workshops. Renowned speakers will speak at the event and showcase investment opportunities in Oman in various fields, including industrial, health, education and tourism sectors, he added.
It also provides an opportunity for the participating companies and countries to share their experience, network and promote their products and services in order to expand into foreign markets, Awladthani said.
120 participants
He also noted that around 120 participants are expected to attend the event. Site visits have also been arranged for the participating delegates on the last day of the exhibition. Awladthani said a fashion show will be hosted during the exhibition, which has been organised by several well-known fashion designers and aims to showcase Omani traditional clothes.
In addition, he said that the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprise Development (Riyada), which supports small companies, is also participating in the exhibition.
Riyada’s support
Awladthani said that Riyada will offer its services to the visitors and participating companies and will provide the necessary information and support to those who are interested in investing in various sectors of Oman’s economy.
The event is an opportunity for direct contact between Omani firms and entities and foreign companies, he added.
