Muscat: The number of patients with bedsores has dropped dramatically at Oman's Royal Hospital after authorities launched a preventative program.
Called "safety procedures to avoid bedsore”, the programme achieved a rate of 0.6 bedsores per 100 patients when the global average is 4 in every 100.
“We were able to bring down the number of cases by changing the position of the paralysed patients regularly and skin daily care. This included examine the skin in order to check any imminent damage, washing the skin with soap and water and drying well, not leaving the skin, bed or cloths wet, as well as not leaving the skin excessively dry,” the statement added.
