Oman health: No free surgeries for expats in government sector

Muscat: Expatriate employees in the government sector have been excluded from getting free of charge surgeries for 18 ailments, including cardiac issues, and buying medicines for six diseases, including arthritis, from December 5 onward by Civil Service Council.
The Civil Service Council issued a decision (Number 13/2016) on December 4 amending certain provisions of the regulations of the Civil Services Law.
The decision covers both permanent employees as well as those on part-time contract and came into effect on December 5.
The decision has been taken referring to the Civil Service Law that was issued by Royal Decree 120/2004 and to the regulations of the Civil Service Law by decision number 9/2010, and to the decision issued by the Civil Service Law in its meeting (Number 3/2016) that was held on September 4, 2016, stated the Council.
