Muscat: Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Yahmadi, along serving sports official at the Ministry of Sports Affairs, and Masirah Club’s Adil bin Khadim Al Zarei entered the chairmanship race for the Oman Tennis Association (OTA) on Sunday.
Ahmed bin Mohammed, who previously served in various sports bodies including Oman Hockey Association and Oman Tennis Association, and Adil Al Zarei have filed their nomination papers for the OTA headquarters on Sunday.
The number of candidates who have so far officially declared their intention to run for the chairmanship has reached three with the other being Quriyat Club’s Khalid bin Ali Al A’adi.
With the current chairman Mutassim Al Zadjali, though yet to file his nomination papers, too expressing his desire to seek another term, the race may lead to a four-way contest when the OTA conducts board elections for 2016-2020 term on November 17.
Former star enters fray
Meanwhile, former Omani star and Davis Cup player Khalid Al Nabhani has announced his candidature for the post of vice-chairmanship.
The current vice-chairman Salim Abubacker of Al Nasr Club has already filed his nomination. Another current OTA board member Abdullah bin Ali will also be contesting for the same post.
