Muscat: FIFA chief Gianni Infantino lauded Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the outgoing chairman of the Oman Football Association (OFA) for his contribution to football.
Sayyid Khalid’s successful tenure as the Sultanate’s football chief ends on September 29 when the OFA General Assembly will elect his successor.
FIFA chief, in a letter, expressed his ‘deepest thanks and appreciation’ to Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi for the Omani official’s efforts in serving football in Oman and various contributions in international football scene during the nine years as the head of Sultanate’s football body.
“On behalf of the international football community, I would like to congratulate you and express my thanks to you for your contribution to football in Oman from 2007 to 2016,” Gianni Infantino said in his letter.
“We at the FIFA express our thanks for your continued contributions to development of the game and wish you success in all your endeavours.”
It is worth mentioning Sayyid Khalid has also been serving as a member of the Development Committee of FIFA since 2009.
