Second edition of Miras project launched to empower halth laders in Muscat

Muscat: The Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, represented by the Human Resources Department, launched on Sunday the second edition of Miras project to empower health leaders.

The launch ceremony was held under the auspices of Sulaiman Nasser Al Hajji, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, in the presence of Directors General, health leaders, and officials in Muscat Governorate.

The launch of this edition comes as a continuation of the Directorate General's efforts in investing in human capital and developing leadership and administrative capabilities among first- and second-line leaders of the health sector in the Governorate. The project aims to enhance empowerment and innovation skills, equip participants with the latest administrative knowledge and strategic methodologies, and directly reflect on raising the level of institutional performance and continuously developing the quality of health services provided to beneficiaries.

In his speech, Mahmoud Al Nabhani, Director of Human Resources at Muscat Health, highlighted the importance of empowering human cadres. He stated that the strength of health systems is not measured by the technologies and modern equipment they possess, but rather by the awareness, planning, and management capabilities of the leaders. He affirmed that leaders are not a luxury or an added value, but a necessity for any sector whose daily decisions are linked to human life and health.

He also explained that the experience of the first batch proved the participants' ability to transform ideas into realistic initiatives and administrative solutions that result in a tangible impact on health institutions. He stressed that investing in human cadres is the deepest and most enduring investment.

On the sidelines of the launch, an integrated scientific program was held, comprising four specialized lectures addressing comprehensive leadership and administrative dimensions. Dr. Draweesh Saif Al Maharbi presented a lecture titled "The Growth Mindset between Leadership Patterns and Decision-Making," reviewing how to transform administrative challenges into opportunities for growth and responsible decision-making.

Dr. Qamrah Al Sariri, Director General of the Quality Assurance Centre, addressed the topic of "Quality Management and Performance Indicators," emphasizing the importance of linking performance indicators to continuous improvement and patient safety.

Dr. Mohammed Al Ghafri, Director of Oman Vision 2040 Follow-up Office, presented a lecture on "Oman Vision 2040," explaining the mechanisms for translating national axes into practical reality in the health sector.

The lectures concluded with a presentation by Dr. Abir Al Maamari on "Professional Ethics," in which she affirmed the necessity of adhering to humanitarian principles and professional integrity as a foundation for providing high-quality health care.

The launching activities concluded with a panel discussion session led by Dr. Marwa Al Raisi. The session provided a space for exchanging experiences and visions between lecturers and leaders, linking theoretical concepts presented to practical applications and real-world challenges in the health work environment.
