Arab national arrested for more than 60 electronic fraud cases

Muscat: Muscat Governorate Police Command has apprehended an individual of Arab nationality for allegedly committing more than 60 cases of electronic fraud targeting victims through social media platforms.

According to police, the suspect allegedly used the bank accounts and phone numbers of individuals from the same nationality to advertise goods, services, and rental properties online.

Victims were reportedly persuaded to make payments for the advertised products, services, or properties. The suspect then allegedly seized the money without providing what had been promised.

Police investigations led to the suspect's apprehension, while legal procedures are being taken against him in connection with the reported fraud cases.

Authorities continue to urge members of the public to exercise caution when making payments to individuals advertising goods, services, or rental properties through social media, particularly where the identity of the seller and legitimacy of the offer cannot be independently verified.
