National campaign against human trafficking 'Aman 2' launched

Salalah: The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking launched the national awareness campaign 'Aman 2' on Sunday in Salalah under the slogan "Awareness is Everyone's Right." 

The campaign aims to raise community awareness of the dangers of this crime, promote a culture of prevention, and support and empower victims.

The national campaign 'Aman 2' will run for a month and includes a range of awareness programmes, events, and activities targeting various segments of society. 

It seeks to enhance understanding of human trafficking indicators, prevention methods, and reporting and assistance channels, thereby contributing to raising community awareness and strengthening national efforts to combat this crime.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking.

The ceremony featured a visual presentation showcasing the National Committee's efforts in raising awareness of the dangers of human trafficking, introducing prevention and protection mechanisms, and highlighting the key initiatives and programs implemented by the Committee to enhance community awareness and protect human rights and dignity.

The ceremony also witnessed the inauguration of the "Wall of Hope," an electronic system accessible to all, allowing individuals to write motivational and supportive messages for victims of human trafficking. These messages are translated into several languages and conveyed to the Protection House, thereby contributing to providing moral support to victims and enhancing their sense of safety and hope.

The launch ceremony was attended by several members of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, along with a number of officials, specialists, and representatives of relevant entities and institutions.

The Sultanate of Oman continues its efforts to combat human trafficking and mitigate its risks through an integrated national framework based on prevention, awareness, protection, and legal prosecution, while enhancing cooperation and coordination among relevant authorities and providing care and protection for victims and safeguarding their rights and dignity.

The national campaign 'Aman 2' represents a continuation of these efforts by enhancing community awareness of the dangers of human trafficking and prevention methods, and instilling the principle that protecting human beings is a shared responsibility and that awareness constitutes one of the fundamental pillars in addressing this crime.
