Oman participates in opening of 81st session of UN General Assembly

New York: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the opening session of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, which commenced in New York with the participation of heads of states and governments, heads of delegations and representatives of international and regional organisations.

This session convenes amid highly critical international and regional circumstances, with an agenda laden with issues relating to peace, security, sustainable development and human rights, alongside discussions of the foremost global challenges, chief among them conflicts, humanitarian crises, climate issues and economic and technological transformations.

The proceedings of the session constitute an occasion to strengthen multilateral action and coordinate joint international efforts, and to explore means capable of addressing current challenges, in a manner that contributes to entrenching security and stability and enhancing the prospects of peace, development and prosperity for peoples.
