
Muscat: With the start of the school year approaching, the Ministry of Health(MOH), has clarified specifications for what constitutes a safe school bag.
"Choosing the right school bag isn't just about looks; it's a crucial step for student comfort and back health throughout the school day. Safety features of a school bag make a big difference," the Ministry said in a post.
Specifications for a Safe School Bag are as follows
- Lightweight and preferably made of fabric.
-The back of the bag should have a thick, flexible support and small ventilation holes.
- Multiple pockets to help distribute weight.
- Adjustable, wide, and padded shoulder straps to prevent strain on the shoulders.
- The bag's width should not exceed the student's width, its length should be equal to the torso's height, and the bottom of the bag should extend approximately 5 cm above the waist.
- It should have an adjustable waist belt to fit the student's size and help distribute the bag's weight evenly.
