PSM celebrates Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day

Muscat: Pakistan School Muscat celebrated Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, bringing together students, parents, Embassy officials and members of the Pakistani community in Oman.

Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Sultanate of Oman, graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Bilal Hassan, Deputy Head of Mission; Captain Zia Ullah, Defence Attaché; Ishrat Hussain Bhatti, Commercial Attaché; Abdul Mannan Baig, Community Welfare Attaché; Salman Tariq, Visa Counsellor; and Liaquat Ali, Immigration Counsellor.

Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador highlighted the significance of independence and Pakistan’s role in promoting regional and global peace. 

He paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s national leadership, armed forces, martyrs and people for their services and sacrifices.

Ameer Hamza, Chairman of the Board of Directors, spoke about the importance of Independence Day and encouraged the younger generation to contribute to Pakistan’s unity, progress and prosperity.

Students presented patriotic songs, speeches and colourful tableaux highlighting the values of unity, faith and discipline. Their performances celebrated Pakistan’s freedom and honoured the sacrifices of its founding leaders and martyrs.

The ceremony was attended by Senior Principal Abdul Rahim, Principal Gul Rahim, Vice Chairman Qaiser Nawaz and BOD Director Ms Hajira Khan. Guests of Honour Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah and Mian Muhammad Riaz, along with representatives of the Pakistan Social Club, minority communities and other prominent community members, also attended.

OPF members Akhmat Hayat Raja, Fahad Muneer and Imran participated in the celebration.

The programme concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and an energetic performance of the popular national song “Dil Dil Pakistan.”
