MCBS strengthens Global Standing in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026

Muscat– The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) has achieved a significant milestone in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Sustainability Ratings 2026 (previously THE Impact Rankings), advancing more than 500 places globally from the 1501+ band in 2025 to the 801–1000 band in 2026. The achievement marks MCBS's third consecutive year of recognition in the prestigious global rankings and reinforces its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in Oman, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 2026 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assessed 1,646 universities worldwide, making it the world's largest and most comprehensive evaluation of universities' contributions to sustainable development. The rankings measure institutional performance against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through teaching, research, stewardship, and community engagement.

MCBS demonstrated particularly strong performance in SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), achieving rankings in the 401–600 band globally across these categories. These results reflect the institution's commitment to educational excellence, responsible governance, meaningful partnerships, and positive societal impact.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Muneer bin Mohammed Al Maskari, Executive Chairman of MCBS, said: "Achieving recognition in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for the third consecutive year and significantly improving our global standing is an important milestone for MCBS. This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners who continue to advance our mission to create meaningful impact through education, research, innovation, sustainability, and community engagement. We remain committed to preparing graduates who contribute positively to society while supporting Oman Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals."

The latest ranking builds on a series of achievements that continue to strengthen MCBS's international profile. In recent years, the institution earned a 5-Star QS Stars Rating, achieved AASHE STARS Gold recognition for sustainability performance, and was ranked among the Top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings - Arab Region 2026.

Through its academic programs, applied research, strategic partnerships, innovation initiatives, and community engagement activities, MCBS continues to contribute to national priorities and global development agendas. The institution's growing recognition reflects a sustained focus on delivering value to students, industry, government, and society.

As MCBS celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, the institution remains focused on strengthening its impact through academic excellence, research, innovation, sustainability, and community engagement while continuing to contribute to Oman Vision 2040 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of the MCBS community and reinforces the institution's mission to create knowledge, foster innovation, develop future-ready graduates, and contribute to the social, economic, and environmental development of Oman and beyond.
