South Al Batinah Municipality implements over 437 community and tourism events

Muscat: The Events and Awareness Department of South Al Batinah Municipality implemented more than 437 diverse events, initiatives, and programs during the first half of this year in cooperation with government and private entities and civil society organizations in the governorate. These efforts aim to enhance community awareness, stimulate tourism, and improve the quality of life across the governorate's various districts.

The activities included tourism programs and festivals, health and environmental initiatives, awareness campaigns, community partnerships, and events designed to promote community participation and measure beneficiary satisfaction with municipal services.

Among the most prominent events held in the governorate during this period were the "Try South Al Batinah" festival, which began in the Khubbat Al Ja'dan area of ​​Nakhl, the Ramadan sports tournament in cooperation with Al Rustaq Club, the annual staff meeting in Barka, the "Al Fans Nights" event in Wadi Al Ma'awil, and the celebration of International Workers' Day.

 The Events and Awareness Department also activated its community partnerships with several government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector to implement and support a range of high-quality programs and events. These included the "Barka Winter" and "Rustaq Winter" events, the "Young Leaders Preparation Program," the drone program, the "Ramadan Tahleela" event, and participation in the National Climate Awareness Campaign in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Authority and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Rustaq. This contributed to expanding community participation and strengthening integration among various sectors to serve the community.

Statistical indicators for the first quarter of this year showed the implementation of 285 awareness, media, and community activities, distributed across the governorate's various districts. Rustaq Municipality recorded 69 activities, Musannah Municipality 42, Al Awabi Municipality 25, and Wadi Al Maawil Municipality 16.

 Statistics revealed that media coverage via social media platforms accounted for the largest share of all activities implemented, with 255 media items representing 63 percent. This was followed by awareness publications and events, totaling 58 activities (13 percent), and then community partnerships, with 44 partnerships (10 percent). Other activities included awareness and inspection visits, awareness campaigns, and various community initiatives.

On the health and environmental front, the governorate implemented several impactful initiatives, including a beach cleanup campaign in Musannah and the "Be Aware" campaign to raise awareness about the importance of slaughtering animals in municipal abattoirs and to promote food safety and public health.

Nadia bint Salem Al-Siyabi, Director of the Events and Awareness Department at the South Al Batinah Municipality, stated that the achievements during the first half of this year reflect the municipality's commitment to strengthening community partnerships and developing a system of events and awareness programs. This contributes to raising awareness levels and improving the quality of life across the governorate's various districts.

 She added that the department has been utilizing digital platforms and modern methods to deliver awareness messages and promote municipal services, while also strengthening cooperation with various government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector. This has contributed to expanding the reach of implemented programs and initiatives and increasing community engagement.

Al-Siyabi noted that the department is proceeding with its plan for the second half of this year, which includes several environmental, health, and regulatory initiatives. These include "Cleanliness Month," initiatives to evaluate beauty salons, restaurants, and cafes, and tree-planting programs targeting valleys and residential areas. Additionally, there is the "Community Satisfaction is Our Goal" initiative, which aims to measure beneficiary satisfaction and enhance direct communication with community members.

She emphasized that the successes achieved are the result of integration and cooperation among various partners, contributing to supporting sustainable development efforts, achieving municipal work objectives, and enhancing the quality of life in the South Al Batinah Governorate.
