New archaeological site discovered in Al Khaboura

Al Khaboura: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has announced the survey and registration of a new archaeological site in the "Hajar Al Sananat" area in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura, North Al Batinah Governorate. The site contains a collection of rare rock inscriptions and drawings dating back to ancient historical periods, adding to the rich archaeological and cultural legacy of the Sultanate of Oman.

The site features a main rock bearing inscriptions and drawings executed using the rock-pecking technique. These include zoomorphic shapes, anthropomorphic symbols, and geometric patterns, reflecting aspects of symbolic expression by ancient Omani societies and their relationship with the surrounding natural environment across different historical eras.

This discovery is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to document and preserve archaeological sites. The inscriptions serve as an important visual record documenting features of early human life and prevailing environmental patterns during those historical periods.
