Information Ministry continues its efforts to preserve and showcase Omani heritage

Muscat: The Ministry of Information continues its efforts to preserve and showcase Omani heritage through a range of documentaries, books, and media programmes aimed at documenting the nation’s cultural and historical legacy.

Among its أproductions, the documentary series 'House of Wonders' has gained wide recognition, securing top awards at local, Gulf, and Arab festivals. During the last Ramadan season, We Have a Legacy was aired on Oman TV, highlighting influential Omani figures using artificial intelligence techniques to narrate their stories.

The Ministry also continues to enrich the 'Ain' platform with a diverse collection of audiobooks and audiovisual content that explores key moments and treasures of Omani history.

A major upcoming project is a feature film on the historic voyage of the Omani ship 'Sultana', which sailed from Zanzibar to become the first Arab vessel to reach the United States in 1840. The film will depict a landmark moment in diplomatic and commercial relations during the reign of Sayyid Said bin Sultan.

According to Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, the film reflects ongoing efforts to highlight Oman’s historical achievements and introduce its prominent figures to local and global audiences.

He added that “Sultana” will be produced to international standards, involving globally recognized production companies and featuring Omani, Arab, and international actors. The project has undergone extensive research, including field visits across Oman, East Africa, India, and the United States, with scripts completed and visual storyboards developed.

Filming is expected to take place across these regions to authentically portray the journey and its historical context.

The Ministry emphasised that such initiatives reinforce its role in cultural documentation, preserving Oman’s rich legacy while connecting past and present for future generations.
