
Sohar--- The Royal Oman Police (ROP) Command in North Al Batinah Governorate marked the Unified GCC Traffic Week today under the slogan "Cross Safely."
The event was held under the auspices of Sheikh Saud Mohammed Al Hinai, Wali of Sohar.
The exhibition aims to enhance traffic awareness among various segments of society by highlighting the efforts of the ROP in achieving traffic safety objectives. It also seeks to introduce the services provided by the Traffic Department and the role of participating institutions in spreading traffic culture, thereby contributing to the reduction of accidents and the creation of a safe traffic environment.
The exhibition witnessed the participation of several formations and units of the Royal Oman Police, the Traffic Department, and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, alongside various government and private institutions, universities, and educational establishments. This integrated participation reflects the importance of community partnership in promoting road safety.
The exhibition featured 31 awareness corners, ranging from introductory to educational stations, which provided direct awareness messages to the public. These corners showcased prominent traffic initiatives and programs, in addition to displaying a collection of modern devices and equipment that contribute to supporting traffic efforts and raising safety levels in the community.
Colonel Matar Hamad Al Makhmari, Assistant Commander of the North Al Batinah Governorate Police, explained that the objectives of this exhibition include raising the level of traffic awareness among community members and promoting positive behaviors among road users.
He added that the event also introduces traffic services and modern technologies used in this field, contributing to the targets of the GCC Traffic Week and fostering a culture of compliance with traffic rules and regulations to protect lives and property.
