Muscat: A man risked his life to rescue a cat that was swept away by a flowing wadi in Nakhal, as heavy rains continue to impact several parts of the Sultanate of Oman.

Yesterday, several governorates witnessed rainfall of varying intensity, along with the flow of wadis and traffic disruptions on some roads, due to the “Al-Masarrat” low-pressure system.

The Royal Oman Police has urged the public to avoid crossing wadis and to strictly adhere to safety measures in order to protect lives and property.

According to General Directorate of Meteorology, the latest weather maps indicate continued chances of thunderstorms on Sunday, accompanied by hail and active downdraft winds due to the associated cloud activity.

The effects are expected to extend to the governorates of North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, South Al Batinah, and Muscat.
