Israeli strikes on energy facility condemned by Qatar

Qatar condemned the Israeli strikes on an Iranian gas facility on the Gulf coast, a field that Tehran shares with Doha.

"Israel's targeting of facilities linked toIran's South Pars gas field, which represents an extension of Qatar's North Field, is a dangerous and irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region," Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari wrote on X.

Al-Ansari added that the targeting of energy infrastructure constitutes a "threat to global energy security, to the peoples of the region, and to the environment."

Facilities linked with Iran’s huge offshore South Pars natural gas field came under attack on Wednesday, Iranian state media reported, without giving details on who had carried out the assault.

State television and the state-run IRNA news agency reported that facilities at Asaluyeh in southern Bushehr province were targeted.

The offshore gas field is shared with Qatar, which Tehran has repeatedly attacked as it carries out strikes in several Gulf countries in response to the US-Israeli offensive.
