Muscat: Oman Meteorology Office has released its latest 24-hour data, highlighting a significant thermal divide across the Sultanate of Oman. Jabal Shams officially recorded the lowest temperature in the country at a bone-chilling -2.2°C, marking a peak in the current winter season.
While the highest mountain peaks have plunged into freezing territory, the southern governorates remain warm and sun-drenched.
High-altitude and interior regions have seen a sharp decline in mercury levels. Following Jabal Shams, Saiq recorded a low of 3.4°C. The cold stretched into the desert and interior plains, with Maqshan and Haima hovering around the 9°C to 10°C mark.
Residents in Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi are advised to exercise caution during late-night and early-morning hours, as low clouds and fog formation are expected to significantly reduce visibility.
