Muscat : The Omani champion, Hamed Al-Wahaibi, is set to conclude his participation in the 2025 FIA World Baja Cup season at the Dubai International Baja, taking place from November 20 to 23. The Omani driver will compete in the Side-by-Side (SSV) category for the RX Sport team, managed by UAE champion Rashed Al-Ketbi, driving a BRP Can-Am Maverick R vehicle.
Al-Wahaibi's participation in the Dubai International Baja holds special significance as it coincides with Oman's National Day celebrations on November 20. Additionally, the UAE is geographically close to the Sultanate of Oman, and Dubai is also the location of the RX Sport team's headquarters.
Hamed Al-Wahaibi is currently competing for second position in the points standings for the SSV category of the current FIA World Baja Cup season, despite the 2025 season marking his debut in this type of rallying, which is completely different from the rounds he previously participated in during the World Rally Championship.
The efforts made by Hamed Al-Wahaibi within the RX Sport team, supported significantly by UAE champion Rashed Al-Ketbi, have resulted in a series of strong results throughout the season, most notably his victory in the Baja Italia.
Hamed Al-Wahaibi said: "This is our last participation in the World Championship for this season, and I am very happy to be here. Dubai is close to the Sultanate of Oman, and competing in this city will be special because the team's headquarters are here too. So, the feeling is wonderful, and I look forward to achieving a strong result."
He continued: "We have benefited greatly from our participation this season. I have always stressed that this year was an experimental one, a season for gaining experience for the future, God willing."
He added: "I would like to congratulate His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the ruling family, and the Omani people on the occasion of Oman's National Day. My participation in the Dubai International Baja will be part of the National Day celebrations, and I hope to achieve a good result. I ask God for success and for the Sultanate of Oman to enjoy peace and security."
The Dubai Baja is considered one of the most established motorsport events in the UAE, tracing its roots back to the 1979 Dubai Rally. Competitors will race in the Al Qudra desert.
As the final round of the 2025 World Cup season, the opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the picturesque Dubai Festival City.
The Prologue Stage will take place in the Hatta area on Friday, November 21, covering a distance of 5.64 km.
The main Baja action will then commence in the Al Qudra desert.
Stage 1 on Saturday, November 22, will cover 195.24 km.
Stage 2 on Sunday will cover a distance of 195.63 km, followed by the closing ceremony at Dubai Festival City Mall.
Hamed Al-Wahaibi aims to compete for victory in the Dubai International Baja to conclude this season in the best possible way and to leverage his experience and knowledge in preparation for the next season, which will feature a broader participation in Baja and Cross-Country rallies.
