Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has reaffirmed its commitment to children's issues and its partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in an address to the UNICEF Executive Board.
Oman emphasised the importance of continuing close cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and improve the protection and well-being of children globally. This partnership is highlighted by the upcoming Country Programme for 2026-2030, which aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan. The program will focus on expanding early childhood and education services, enhancing skills and opportunities for youth, and ensuring social inclusion and protection for vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities.
Oman also expressed support for UNICEF's Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, which puts children at the heart of the UN's work. The Sultanate concluded its address by expressing deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and called on the international community to take urgent measures to protect civilians, especially children.
