Oman tourism: Salalah receives more than 580,000 visitors in Khareef season

Muscat: The number of visitors to Salalah during Khareef "Monsoon season" from 21st June until 21st August 2016 surged by a whopping 22.9 per cent compared with figures of the same period last year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The total number of visitors rose to 582,736 as of 21st August 2016.

Visitors from the Sultanate came first in terms of the number of visitors by nationality to 433,959 comprising 74.5 per cent of the total visitors. Emiratis came second by 16.3 per cent, Saudis came third and Qataris came fourth.

The NCSI statistics showed that 81% of the Khareef visitors came by land compared to 19% came through flights.

Surveying Khareef visitors will continue till September 21st.
