Ibri: The Al Dhahirah Governorate Municipal Council held a meeting today under the chairmanship of Najib Ali Al Rowas, Governor of A’Dhahirah and Chairman of the Council. The meeting addressed several service and developmental topics in the governorate.
At the outset, the council reviewed the minutes of the previous session, along with the responses and recommendations received. It also examined a visual presentation by the governorate’s Environment Department, highlighting initiatives aimed at preserving wild plants, expanding green spaces, combating desertification, and projects to inventory water resources and endangered wildlife. The presentation also outlined key environmental challenges across the governorate’s wilayats.
The Roads Department of Al Dhahirah Governorate presented a visual overview of ongoing projects, including maintenance works for asphalt roads, the design and implementation of additional works on the Ibri–Yanqul Road (Phase 2), and repairs to damages on the Hayal–Madali Road in the Wilayat of Ibri. The presentation also covered inspection efforts in the land transport sector.
Additionally, the council discussed several service-related issues, most notably the discharge of untreated sewage into natural environments, wadi pathways, and aflaj (traditional irrigation systems). The meeting also reviewed recommendations from the minutes of the Governorate Development and Enhancement Committee and the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee.
