Muscat: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale was recorded on Sunday afternoon in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate.
According to the Sultan Qaboos University Earthquake Monitoring Center, the tremor struck at 2:32 PM local time, with its epicentre located approximately 155 kilometres northeast of Salalah. The quake occurred at a depth of 4 kilometres.
The earthquake was registered in the Wilayat of Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands, part of the Dhofar region, according to the Center.
