OOC reviews the International Olympic Solidarity Programs 2025–2028

Muscat: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Olympic Solidarity Department, reviewed the International Olympic Solidarity programs for the period 2025–2028 during a meeting held on Tuesday morning at Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) headquarters. The meeting was attended by representatives from sports federations and committees.

Ali bin Salim Al-Busaifi, Director of Olympic Solidarity Department, delivered a presentation on key updates to the Olympic Solidarity plan for the next four years. The programs are divided into five main categories, covering the core areas of sports development: Olympic values, management and knowledge exchange, sports development, technical teams, and Olympic Games. These programs target national Olympic committees, federations, sports committees, clubs, and professionals working in sports institutions and organizations.

The meeting included an in-depth explanation of the grants and programs within each of the five categories. The Olympic Values Program features educational and training grants, the Olympic Day, and initiatives to promote Olympic values. The Management and Knowledge Exchange Program encompasses international executive courses in sports management, sports administration courses, and the development of national Olympic committee management. The Technical Teams Program offers various grants for athletes and coaches, including technical grants for coaches and technical teams, Olympic coaching grants, athlete career transitions, and support for athletes’ committees. The Olympic Games Program provides support to athletes selected by national Olympic committees who meet eligibility criteria for preparation and qualification for the 34th Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, with a focus on individual sports included in the Olympic program. Lastly, the Sports Development Program includes grants for team support, continental athlete support, youth athlete development, and the enhancement of national sports systems.

Saeed bin Juma Al-Harasi, Senior Administrator at the Olympic Solidarity Department, gave a presentation on the Olympic Solidarity platform, detailing how to submit applications via the platform. The platform contains comprehensive information on various Olympic programs, including the requirements and criteria for each program and the submission timelines. He also outlined the stages of application review, from initial submission to the final approval process. The platform aims to facilitate transparent and efficient access to Olympic programs, enhancing the opportunities for committees, federations, and sports professionals to benefit from the available support.

It is worth noting that International Olympic Solidarity is one of the core initiatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) aimed at supporting national Olympic committees, particularly in developing countries. Its goal is to enhance their participation in regional and global sports activities. The programs empower athletes, coaches, and technical teams by providing access to the resources and expertise necessary to improve their performance. They also offer financial and technical support to strengthen sports infrastructure and implement educational and training programs. This pioneering role underscores the IOC’s commitment to promoting Olympic values and fostering sustainable development in sports worldwide.
