Manah: The Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers on Sunday received 47 students from the United Kingdom, Russia, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Korea, El Salvador, India, Iran, Australia and Kazakhstan.
Based in the Wilayat of Manah, Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, the institute also received 15 Arabic language teachers from some Uzbek universities (University of Oriental Studies and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan).
Besides teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and teachers (male and female), the institute is conducting a variety of activities, including lectures, educational trips to various historical and natural places, Arabic calligraphy lessons, art courses and a programme titled “language partner” for like-minded counterparts.
The course also includes theories of second language acquisition, methods of learning and teaching foreign languages, models on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, teaching skills, designing language examinations and questionnaires, dialogue sessions and other hands-on applications.
The institute is conducting a course of 8 weeks for non-native students and 4 weeks for non-native teachers.
