For me, the year 2024 has swished past like a lightning and I now look back to see if I have achieved anything worthwhile.
Many events in 2024 have come to my life faster than the clock can measure their worthiness. Looking back, I am not sure how the seconds ticked into minutes and hours rolled into days. My head is still reeling as I take a peek at the last 12 months.
However, I am grateful that I welcomed the good times and absorbed the bad times in equal measure. I know there were advices I should have listened but did not because perhaps I was too proud to bend down and accept them.
There were also times I kept my chin up instead of staying humble. But having said that, I took many criticisms gracefully and refused to get into useless brawls.
For most of the year, I tried to sidestep awkward situations and steer away from troubles. Of course, there were a few temptations but I am happy to say that I did not choose a path that would lead into embarrassing myself and my family. With all those ups and downs, I like to think I never succumbed to wild temptations.
But enough said about the year 2024. The only thing we can do now is learn from it as we prepare for the next 12 months of the year ahead.
However, we should not make promises that we cannot keep as we wait for 2025 to open its doors for us. But we need to organise ourselves about the year that is about to begin. We need to remember that anything worthwhile only happens to us when we are mentally ready for it.
Accepting the inevitable
We also need to understand that there will be some disappointments during the year 2025 and we should not keep our hopes so high. Accepting the inevitable, whatever that maybe, is always a good advice. For example, some of us may lose our jobs or even get into debts. We never know exactly what the next year will have in store for us but we need to be hopeful.
As the ship of the Year 2025 is pulling its anchor and ready to set sail, the water maybe choppy all the way to the year end. While at the same time, it might well be a smooth voyage. Whatever it maybe, we need to stay alert. We should not take anything or no one for granted. Is it important to say that our families come first?
Of course, it is. Think of the time that all those little things you should have said or done but never took the time when members of your family needed you in 2024. I think we should give our families a priority in the next 365 days. After all, where do we fall back on when the pressure of life thickens up? So, the conclusion I have from what I learned from the closing year, is to never repeat the mistakes in 2025. I would still be proud of my achievements but at the same time would like to be mindful of people around me and their needs.
Happy New Year and may we all prosper and stay on the right side of the law this year with our families, neighbours and friends.
