South Batinah unveils strategic projects for sustainable growth

Al Rustaq: South Al Batinah Governorate is working on a strategic vision covering a long–term plan prepared with the participation of related parties including the government and private sector establishments and individuals.

The strategy of the governorate represents a roadmap that would contribute to achievement of the targets and goals of the strategy in consistent with Oman Vision 2040.

South Al Batinah Governorate enjoys a strategic location which makes it a key centre for sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.

Masaud bin Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah said that South Al Batinah Governorate’s strategy is established on three aspects which are communication, excellence and diversification. The aspect of communication aimed to make the governorate a regional centre for data and etrade, a logistic area and advance basic structure in the logistics sector, he said adding that the excellence sector aimed to make the governorate the national sports excellence centre which makes the governorate aspire to make available the various sports services as to be capable of hosting the international sports events.

Speaking about the investment opportunities in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, he said that Barka and Al Musannah Ports form promising investment opportunities and that the governorate is working on development of the infrastructure supportive to this sector.

The volume of investment at Barka Port is expected to reach OMR50 million, he added.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the governorate is working on boosting the healthcare services and the awareness campaigns.

He said that the reserves in the governorate including Al Rustaq Wildlife Reserve and the Al Dimaniyyat Islands Nature Reserve receive great attention from the departments concerned.

Speaking on education, he said that there are many new projects within the development of the education sector in the governorate including construction of schools in the Wilayats of Barka  and Al Aawabi.

There are also vital projects including construction of a souq in the Wilayat of Wadi Al Ma’awil and another in the Wilayat of Al Awabi.
