Kuala Lumpur: Represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday signed in Kuala Lumpur a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the International Islamic University of Malaysia to establish an Omani Research and Studies Centre at the university.
The MoC was signed by Sheikh Ahmed Saud Al Siyabi, Secretary General of the Iftaa Office at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, Rector of the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
The memorandum aims to introduce Oman—the people and the civilisation—and encourage academics and specialists to conduct studies and research about the country. The MoC generally seeks to consolidate professional cooperation and enhance cultural communication between the two friendly countries.
The MoC signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abbas bin Ibrahim Al Harthy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Malaysia, ambassadors of Arab and friendly countries and a number of researchers, academics and people interested in the field.
